Title: Surface-based morphometry of structural MRI-Data

Abstract: Structural MRI data are widely used in order to investigate human brain morphometry. The most popular method for that purpose is voxel-based morphometry (VBM) which enables a voxel-wise estimation of the local amount of a specific tissue after segmenting the MRI data into gray and white matter and cerebrospinal fluid. However, these segmentations can be also used to extract a representation of the cortical surface. In my talk, I will present the preprocessing steps that are required to reconstruct and analyze brain surface meshes. This will cover methods to estimate central surface and cortical thickness in one step, algorithms to improve re-parameterization of spherical maps and spherical harmonic approaches to correct topology of surface meshes and to estimate local surface complexity.

The talk will be given in German!
