Title:The Generalized Prony Method

Abstract: In signal analysis one often has some a priori knowledge about the signal under investigation. Our task is to use this knowledge in order to identify the special parameters of this structure out of given measurements. The Prony method, or one of its stable variants as e.g. the ESPRIT-method or the MUSIC-method solve this parameter identification problem if equidistant sampling points are given.
In this talk we present a generalization of the Prony method, based on eigenfunctions of linear operators. With this new method, not only linear combinations of exponentials, but also linear combinations of other function systems can be analyzed.
