Titel: Parametrische präklinische und klinische Bildgebung - aktuelle Projekte der Sektion Biomedizinische Bildgebung
Abstract: Die in diesem Jahr neu gebildetete Sektion Biomedizinische Bildgebung hat die Aufgabe, die drei bildgebenden Einrichtungen und die Anwender der Medizinischen Fakultät der CAU von naturwissenschaftlich-technisch-mathematischer Seite aus beim Einsatz und der Entwicklung von Bildgebung zu unterstützen. Der Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf Verfahren, die eine parametrische Analyse jenseits qualitativer Befundung zulassen. Beispiele sind im Bereich der präklinischen molekularen Bidlgebung die Bestimmung physiologisch relevanter Parameter des Metabolismus mittels molekularer und funktionaler Bildgebung sowie die muskuloskelettale Bildgebung von Patienten. Die Darstellung aktueller Fortschritte und Herausforderungen soll die Arbeit der Sektion beleuchten und Möglichkeiten für Kooperationen aufzeigen.
Über den Referenten: Prof. Dr. Claus-C. Glüer was born in Hamburg, Germany, studied physics at the University of Hamburg, Germany, and earned his Diplom-Physiker degree in 1982. In his dissertation at HASYLAB DESY, Germany, he first began working on medical applications of X-ray, developing synchrotron-based techniques for coronary angiography. He recieved his Dr. rer. nat. degree from the University of Hamburg, Germany, in 1986.
After 7 years of research as assistant and associate adjunct professor at the University of California, San Francisco, he became a professor of medical physics in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein in Kiel, Germany, in 1995. He is associate editor of Osteoporosis International and member of the editorial board of 2 other professional journals. His research is focused on the development of innovative parametric imaging techniques and their quantitative evaluation. Working in the field of osteoporosis for more than 20 years, he has contributed specifically to the development of bone densitometry, quantitative ultrasound, and high-resolution computed tomography approaches. He has coordinated several multicenter studies including OPUS, a European project on epidemitology and optimized diagnostic assessment of osteoporosis. He also has a strong research interest in developing multimodal methods for molecular imaging with applications in oncology, inflammation, and skeletal research.
Prof. Dr. Glüer is a member of 15 professional societies and is the current president of the Germany Academy of Bone and Joint Sciences. He has published more than 140 original papers.
