Talk: Ed Castillo

On Wednesday, Aug. 31 at 3 pm ct, Ed Castillo from Rice University / Beaumont Health System Research Institute will give a talk on "Quantifying the Effects of Cancer Radiotherapy with CT-Derived Functional Imaging".

Location: MIC-Arena, Maria-Goeppert-Str. 3, 23562 Lübeck

Title: Quantifying the Effects of Cancer Radiotherapy with CT-Derived Functional Imaging

Abstract: Radiotherapy (RT) is a key component in the treatment of certain cancers. And while understanding the biological effect of RT on disease is an important area of research, our focus is on the equally important goal of understanding the effect of RT on healthy tissues and organs. In this talk we will discuss 1) image processing methods for computing functional imaging from dynamic computed tomography, including mathematical derivation and numerical implementation, and 2) how these methods can be employed to quantify and potentially predict the RT response of healthy organs.
