Title: An Analyst's View at Image Processing
Abstract: There are two analytical approaches to image processing, a variational one (Mumford-Shah) and an evolutionary one (Perona Malik). In my talk I try to point out that these approaches have interesting features in common, but only after they are discretized. If time permits I will also speak about some geometric information that is hidden in an elliptic differential equation.
